Deskripsi dan Tujuan

Deskripsi Mata Kuliah

This course focuses on gaining general and specific information from the reading texts, identifying the main idea, and extracting detailed information. It also aims to deduce the meaning of words, phrases, and sentences based on context and explain the grammatical relationship between different parts of the text using cohesive devices. Mastery of vocabulary and relevant grammatical structures is emphasized. Additionally, the course aims to develop skills in making inferences, analyzing information, synthesizing ideas, and improving reading comprehension. Both authentic and simplified texts covering current issues can be applied to facilitate language development.

  1. Knowing, and understanding lecture contracts and introductory lecture material in general and being able to understand in depth the Reading English texts.
  2. The students can identify, understand andndifferentiate reading texts.
  3. The students are able to identify and understand deep vocabularyneffective reading.
  4. The students are able to understand and master the use of a dictionary in reading English texts.
  5. Students can master strategies in reading, especially in scanning and skimming activities.
  6. Students can master strategies in reading particularly understanding new words from reading, understanding facts and opinions, and arguments and supported arguments in the passage.
  7. Students can determine the elements of the paragraph: Topic sentence/main idea, supporting sentences, and concluding sentences.
  8. The students actively think about what is happening in the text, to generate questions based on the text given.
  9. The students actively think about what is happening in the text, to generate questions based on the text given. Answer their own and their peers’ questions by connecting ideas, using background knowledge.
  10. Analyze and understand the content of the reading text given.
  11. Students can comprehend the texts, able to analyze and discuss the content of the text when they comprehend information based on the texts given (implicitly or explicitly), and apply and increase the ideas based on the information of the texts.
  12. The students can share reading, providing opportunities for the students to: expand their vocabulary, and read fluently, with expression and confidence. Promote pleasure and enjoyment with texts.
